I know a lot of moms who make their own reviewers and practice tests for their kids when it's time for long tests and exams. There's a lot of time and effort involved in making these, so instead of a one-time use for the printed material, why not make them reusable, literally for practice?
Just put your printed test paper between the 2 sheets --'sandwich' style, use a bulldog clip to hold them in place. Put out your whiteboard marker and eraser and you're good to go!
You can save and collect your long test reviewers and re-use them for the the final period exam. That way, you don't have to make one all over again! I even reuse answered activity sheets in school. I just cover up the answered portions with strips of paper, with a small piece of tape (you don't need much because they will be pressed between the acrylic sheets anyway).

| Isn't it a nifty tablet? If you feel your child needs more practice, just wipe 'em out! |
I used two sheets so I can do back to back. My fifth grader has longer and detailed tests, so I can let her do it all in one sitting. I used 8.5" x 13" size because tests and activity sheets in school are printed on legal size paper. Re-using activity sheets is a quick and easy way to review for quizzes. :)
If you're the kind of mom who likes to do things in advance ( you know who you are!), you can use a sheet over the book pages to answer the exercises or chapter reviews, before they answer them in school. The teacher won't find out about your little secret! :)

You can find acrylic sheets in hardware stores or home depots but they sell it in 4' x 8' sheets, a bit big for this project. You can try the shops that make signs, maybe they have scrap they're willing to sell, or email me and I'll see what I can do :).
Note: I'm new to using acrylic sheets as a write and erase tablet, so I can't say yet how much writing abuse they can manage before they all get scratched up. Prior to this, I used our glass sliding doors in our previous home, I just tape them on the opposite side of the door, with the printed side facing them. They like to do pretend school, because they answer them standing up, like how you would on a black board!
This might also be of help to teachers and tutors who do one-on-one tests and reviews. :)

This is soooo cool!!! I used to cover my daughter's worksheets with post-its so I can re-use them. But this idea rocks!!! Thanks for the tip!
ReplyDeleteI.LOVE.IT. nuff said. :)
ReplyDeleteThis is genius! I will have to remember this tip when my little girl starts schooling. :)
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm pretty sure you are your mother-in-law's favorite now ...
ReplyDeleteNo relation to this post but I would just like to share.
ReplyDeleteI think you posted a few months back how you like this YSL wallet. It's on sale :0)

ReplyDeleteocmom: i still think im the lazy one :)
anonymous: thanks for sharing! still steep for me :(. (though it's cheaper at rustan's last time I checked.)
SHET!!!! ANG GALING MO!!!!!!!! Thank you!!!
ReplyDeleteYou know National sells acrylic picture frames where you can put the worksheets inside! Remember one of our projects where you printed the certificates to be inserted inside? Pwede yon! =)
ReplyDeleteThere's also a Muji version but it's super expensive.
this is so clever :)
ReplyDeletei love this!! can you use transparencies for this project too?
ReplyDeleteWow! Thanks for sharing this! With three kids, this post is heaven sent. :)
ReplyDeleteThis is such a brilliant tip! Winner!
ReplyDeleteocmom : or maybe the local Ikea-carrying stores, they have those acrylic frames too!
ReplyDeleteneva: i did that before, it's not as fun as acrylic. it's too thin and crumples easily.
thanks all for your positive feedback!!! :)
I'm doing something similar too! Reusable travel packing lists! But I just laminate them.
ReplyDeleteI love this idea though because it's easier to revise with the tablets. Though it's easier to carry around the laminated sheet during packing. I most definitely will explore this option next time I got to the hardware store! Thanks for the useful tip!
this is a great idea!
ReplyDeletethanks!
ReplyDeleteocmominmanila led me to your post but I wasn't successful in finding the materials. I do a lot of worksheets with my preschooler and the one from crayola would cost me a lot on shipping. This is just brilliant! I am yet to find those acrylic sheets but I hope not in 8'x4' sizes.
ReplyDeletethanks. as suggested by OC Mom, try looking for acrylic used as photo holders -- maybe in department stores or national bookstore? good luck!
